Hypnosis is recognized as an effective therapeutic treatment tool by the British Medical Association

 

 

 Have you ever wondered what the medical profession's view of hypnosis is?

Over the decades, many universities and professional medical bodies have undertaken studies that have endorsed the effectiveness of hypnosis to treat a wide variety of medical and psychological conditions. Two excellent sources of reference for anyone who would like to investigate further are a handbook by Hellmut Karle and Jennifer Boys. Titled 'Hypnotherapy A practical handbook' This excellent academic resource book was published in 1987. Hellmut Karle was Principal Psychologist at Guy's Hospital London and is now retired and Jennifer Boys was Top Grade Clinical Psychologist with the Brighton Health Authority and is also now retired.

The second book is titled 'Hypnotherapy. A handbook' by Michael Heap and Windy Dryden.  Dr Michael Heap is a clinical psychologist specialising in adult mental health problems and a forensic psychologist preparing personal injury assessments and reports for the criminal courts.Also a part-time lecturer at the University of Sheffield for 13 years.He is a founder member of the British society of Experimental and Clinical Hypnosis.

Windy Dryden is professor of counselling at Goldsmiths College university of London.He has published 194 books and has trained therapists all over the world, in as diverse places as the UK, Europe, the USA, South Africa, Turkey and Israel.
