What is  EFT and Tapping?

EFT,Emotional Freedom Therapy is a very powerful self help therapy tool that can work for a lot of people with a very wide range of applications. It is very quick and easy to learn and quick and easy to apply.

Very recently I fell victim to what I thought was food poisoning, however from my chats with friends and other people it may well have been a very nasty gastric bug that seems to be doing the rounds. This bug seems to leave one feeling very tired and washed out and the last few days have been no exception with trying to catch up with the backlog of work.

Last night I wondered if EFT might help me to sleep better and to awaken feeling refreshed and so I set up a routine before going to sleep and this morning I do feel so much better than I did yesterday. EFT works with the bodies energy meridians and removes trapped energy freeing up the flow of energy within the body.
I have used EFT for a very wide range of situations with clients from pain management through to treating fears and phobias.

As far as my work as a therapist is concerned EFT is another very useful tool in my therapy box just like BWRT, NLP and Hypnosis. As a therapist I believe it is useful to have several tools in ones therapy box as sometimes we need to offer our clients several keys until they find the right one that unlocks the doors in their mind and helps them to connect with their inner resources.

EFT was discovered and developed by Gary Craig in the early 1990's.

EFT body tapping points

Tapping is a technique which uses gentle tapping on specific acupuncture points to release negative emotional states, thereby helping with almost all of our life problems, including, interestingly, our physical issues. Stage hypnotist and presenter Paul McKenna has been quick to take up Tapping. One very significant aspect of tapping that sets it aside from many other treatments, especially emotionally-oriented ones, is that you can often experience shifts within minutes. It is not uncommon for practitioners to witness major traumas being released and cleared permanently within one to three sessions. This possibility can push our belief boundaries. Tapping works surprisingly well for most people, most of the time, and when used appropriately its effects are usually found to be permanent. It is in use by around 250,000 people around the world today and can be used by everyone, including children.

There are two regulated professional therapies that use Tapping. The first is called thought field therapy (TFT) and was the first treatment system to make use of the tapping points to treat psychological issues. The second is Emotional Freedom techniques (EFT). This is greatly simplified to the point where it can be used even by children, and many practitioners would say it is equally as powerful as hypnotherapy for some situations

The following is a list of issues which EFT is known to be very helpful in assisting clients to resolve.
